December 2008 WOWWAW 2008 is over. We thank very much all children for their nice origami models and wish them Happy folding in 2009 ! We thank the Colobok Jury members for taking part in the WOWWAW project. October 2007 Award Ceremony of the "Global Junior Challenge 2007 Italy, Rome, 3 - 5 October 2007 The Global Junior Challenge (GJC) is a global award promoted by the Digital World Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by the Municipality of Rome and six major ICT companies, www.gjc.it and www.mondodigitale.org. The GJC is under the High Patronage of the President of the Italian Republic. The intention of the award, dedicated to young people and to schools, is to identify and reward best practices on the use of new technologies in education and training of youngsters. An international jury selects the finalists and the winners are announced during the award ceremony that takes place in Rome, at the Campidoglio City Hall. The Global Junior Challenge is in line whit the E-Learning Program threw from the European Commission during the summit of Lisbona. The goal of this program is the spread of the digital culture between the teachers and the young. The Global Junior Challenge represent an important occasion to increase teachers and youths concern towards ICT potential for education. The Global Junior Challenge is dedicated to all young people, from school children to teenagers and youth taking their first steps on the job market. It concerns cities, institutions, local authorities, businesses, NGOs, communities and individual citizens. The Global Junior Challenge concerns all those who are interested or involved in child and youth education and training, and more broadly, in helping in the construction of a more inclusive society. About 600 projects from around 80 countries worldwide have taken part in the Challenge sharing the common vision that a better world is possible through ICTs. The fourth GJC edition will award the winners of the 4 categories up to 10, 15, 18 and 29 years old, as well as those of the three special categories: work, educational projects promoted by public administrations, and digital animations promoted in partnership with the Media Digital Authority of the Government of Singapore. After the great work of evaluation by the International Jury the finalists of the 4th edition of the Global Junior Challenge were announced: more than 70 project from all over the world were hosted in Rome during the final event on 3-5 October 2007. The very rich programme of events was unfolded at three historical locations of the Eternal City: the Istituto Tecnico Industriale Galileo Galilei di Roma, a multicultural school in the heart of the Esquilino, one of the seven hills of Rome, the beautiful Giulio Cesar Room in the Campidoglio City Hall, and the Quirinale Palace, home of the President of the Italian Republic. The Global Junior Challenge announced "Wow! What an Amazing World!" as a finalist project of 2007 in the Category "up to 15 years old" This project is dedicated to art education and friendship between children worldwide. It was created in 2004 by the International Art Partnership "Peace Tree" team: Alex, Larisa and Anastasia Levashov (Russia) and Gerwin Sturm (Austria) The team's first project is well-known in the world: The Origami Peace Tree Project - www.peacetree.info - the UNESCO-2005 winner. The "Wow! What an Amazing World!" project (#288) was announced by Walter Veltroni, the Mayor of Rome, as a winner project during the Award Ceremony at the Campidoglio City Hall. The Levashovs handed the Italian flag folded with the green-red-white colour cranes of peace to the Municipality of Rome. Alex and Larisa Levashov were officialy invited by Giorgio Napolitano, the President of the Italian Republic, to visit the Quirinale Palace, the President home with the other GJC 2007 winners. What an Amazing World!" 2007 has started. (see WOWWAW main page) The International Children Origami project "Wow! What an Amazing World!" 2006 is successfully over. Tiger is the artwork of 2006. We are thanking all children and their teachers as well as the Colobok Jury members for taking part in it. The Certificates of Merit and a special prize were sent to the folders of the Origami Center Yenisseisk from Yenisseisk, Russia: Daria Rudakovskay, Vitaliy Kumratov, Temirlan Kumratov and Aleksandra Kalashnikova, as their art instructor. We hope more childen will take part in in "Wow! What an Amazing World!" 2007 and their teachers will help them to see the beautiful world of the art of Origami. International Art Partnership "Peace Tree" leaders, January 2006 The International Children Origami on-line project "Wow! What an Amazing World!" 2006 is started. We are inviting all children and their teachers from all over the world to take part in it. The project deadline for this year is November 1, 2006. The prize for the best Origami picture 2006 will be sent to the prize-winner at the end of 2006. The Origami group who are the hosts of the other three best Origami pictures will receive the WOWWAW 2006 Diplomas. Please read carefully the WOWWAW Main page and send your quality pictures. The International Children Origami project "Wow! What an Amazing World!" 2005 is over. We are thanking all children and their teachers as well as the Colobok Jury members for taking part in it. The Certificate of Merit will be send to each group of folders who has taken part in the project. The special prize will be send to Ulan-Ude, Siberia, Russia for the folders of the school #58 and their art instructors Elena and Julia Gaidaenko. We hope that every time more and more childen will be involved in the "Wow! What an Amazing World!" project and that experienced folders and teachers will help them to see the beautiful world of the art of Origami.
